Z is for Zebra, 2012

About the work:

Big game hunting is a multi million dollar business. In some parts of Africa it has helped to secure the ongoing survival of many species
through the creation and careful management of hunting reserves and parks. In Texas USA, herds of exotic animals have been
established in private hunting parks to meet the sporting needs of the American Hunter. Healthy populations of many African species
(some threatened in Africa) now call the USA home.Z is for Zebra explores this complex topic within the moral context of Genesis where
God commands man “to replenish the earth and subdue it” and within a commercially sustainable context, in both, mans stewardship
is highly questionable. Z is for Zebra features a full mounted Burchell’s Zebra, imported from Montana USA. He was hunted 10 years ago,
having first been part of a larger collection of trophies, then on sold to a broker in Montana. I Shipped him to Sydney 2010.

Did you know?

Zebra are very inquisitive animals, when startled they are quick to take flight but will always return to the scene of the disturbance to check it out, this means the hunter gets a second chance to shoot his/her target all they need do is sit and wait.

The image below is from my sketchbook 2012.
